New Marks & Spencer store proposed at Eclipse Park, Maidstone

Marks & Spencer and Gallagher Properties are proposing plans for a new multi-million pound store at Eclipse Park, by Junction 7 of the M20 at Maidstone, which will create approximately 300 jobs, including part-time positions, when open.

The new plans come after the decision by Waitrose not to proceed with its proposed development, following the granting of planning permission by Maidstone Borough Council in May 2017.

All retailers are reviewing their strategies in response to changing shopping habits and the Internet. M&S has decided that Maidstone is the preferred location for a major new store - the largest of its size in its portfolio and designed to be ‘inspirational’, drawing people from a wide catchment area. This makes Eclipse Park an ideal location.

This proposed investment is a fantastic opportunity for the county town in terms of bringing new employment opportunities and retail choice to residents and the wider communities in the Maidstone area and elsewhere in Kent.
